This holiday season, Slumberland Furniture is again working to provide families in need with new beds through its annual Making Homes for the Holidays program. Slumberland will donate mattress and box spring sets, working with Dodge County Human Services to distribute them to families throughout the community.
The Making Homes for the Holidays program began in 1993. Since then, Slumberland has donated more than 15,000 new mattresses and box spring sets to needy families throughout the Midwest. Aman and his teenage daughters were only seconds away from death when a fire broke out at the Arrowtown holiday home they were staying in at 4am yesterday.

Fire trucks from both the Arrowtown and Frankton brigades were called to a house in Dennison Way, where a dozen firefighters quickly got the massive blaze under control.

Arrowtown fire chief Garry Hall said a faulty electric blanket appeared to be the cause of the fire.

The two girls had taken a mattress from one of the beds out into the garden to sunbathe on Wednesday afternoon.

The underlying electric blanket must have been scrunched up when the mattress was replaced. It was then turned on accidentally without anyone realising, he said
